Getting Ready for Summer...Vintage Swimsuits

Each painting is 4"x6", oil on stretched canvas,
$45 each(plus s/h)(available)
Can I just say that it could not be any greyer today here in Michigan :o(...it's funny I never realized just how many grey days we get here until I lived in Australia...Cairns which boasts some 300 or more sunny days, and even Sydney. Somehow my husband agreed to moving back to the US to be closer to my family, but we are both now asking ourselves, 'why did we leave'? (sorry Mom)...I think in the next year or two we will be looking at either North or South Carolina....anyway, to make a rather long story short, if the sun doesn't come out soon I will need to replace the photos tomorrow as they are just dreadful...the paintings are much more vibrant and alive...so stay tuned!
**Update :o) Who-hoo! The sun is actually shining today so I was able to get some better shots of my vintage swimsuits, or swimmers as my Aussie husband would call them...now I will be packing up our kitchen as we move tomorrow!I probably won't be back at the easel until Monday or so...Have a great weekend! :o)

Vintage Wall Phone-Still Life Painting in Oil by Lara Harris

3"x5" oil on canvas panel,$49(plus s/h)
(SOLD/commission)
This was a fun piece to do for a wonderful customer and friend in Canada...her mother used to be a switchboard operator so she had me do this old, vintage, or I suppose you might say antique, wall phone. I absolutely love vintage items, phones and cameras especially, so this was a true joy to paint. If you are interested in having a special piece done for you please do not hesitate to contact me via email!

Vintage Heels (Remix in Progress)...

I am hoping I don't offend any Moms out there, but I have decided to revamp my 'Mother's Day' painting....I think the idea was good, but it would've worked better on a larger canvas. So, I went ahead and painted over the little girl's shoes and will be filling in a bit of the empty space with a couple other vintage goodies, nothing too large as to detract from the heels themselves, but a bit of something, something to add some interest...so stay tuned!

Rainy Day in Paris, Rainy Day in Michigan...

(close up view)

8"x10", oil on stretched canvas,(SOLD)

I was a bit bummed out yesterday as I had hoped to get a good photo of this piece that I have been working on for the past 2 days, but of course it was raining here in Michigan...as cold and dreary as dreary can be. But then it hit me, how fitting it was that it was raining as this piece is centered around Gustave Caillebotte's "Paris Street; Rainy Day". I had a bit of a chuckle and listed it on Etsy anyway. I just replaced the photo, although it still is a bit warmer in tone than what may appear, paintings always look better in real life!I also do commission work, so if there is a painting you might like a study done of feel free to drop me an email!

The Vintage Typewriter

3"x5" oil on primed canvas panel $39(plus s/h)(SOLD)
I am really loving this piece as I absolutely love vintage and antique items. I feel as though such items take you back in time, to a better, more simple way of life. If you also love vintage items you really must check out the work of Chris Stott, he is an incredible still life artist who I discovered years ago on ebay. He is the artist who inspired me to pick up a paintbrush over 3 years ago, even when I didn't think I could paint, and I have been painting ever since!

A New Home on Etsy...

3"x5" oil on primed canvas (SOLD)

Well I finally closed my doors on ebay the other day and will now be selling my work primarily on Etsy. There just have been too many changes in the past couple years on ebay and after 3 years or so I have decided to bid ebay adieu and join my fellow artists on etsy. I will also be getting back to doing some still life pieces and Master portrait studies along with my Painting a Pup a Day project...I have to take a break from painting pups from time to time or I go a little batty...So, I hope you will enjoy following my new journey selling on etsy...it certainly was a pleasant surprise to see a couple sales already! A great welcome to a wonderfully creative and inspiring site!
