Getting Ready for Summer...Vintage Swimsuits

Each painting is 4"x6", oil on stretched canvas,
$45 each(plus s/h)(available)
Can I just say that it could not be any greyer today here in Michigan :o(...it's funny I never realized just how many grey days we get here until I lived in Australia...Cairns which boasts some 300 or more sunny days, and even Sydney. Somehow my husband agreed to moving back to the US to be closer to my family, but we are both now asking ourselves, 'why did we leave'? (sorry Mom)...I think in the next year or two we will be looking at either North or South Carolina....anyway, to make a rather long story short, if the sun doesn't come out soon I will need to replace the photos tomorrow as they are just dreadful...the paintings are much more vibrant and alive...so stay tuned!
**Update :o) Who-hoo! The sun is actually shining today so I was able to get some better shots of my vintage swimsuits, or swimmers as my Aussie husband would call them...now I will be packing up our kitchen as we move tomorrow!I probably won't be back at the easel until Monday or so...Have a great weekend! :o)

  1. Hi Lara,

You stopped by my blog a few days ago so I thought I'd pop over and say Hello! I think if I would have left Australia I'd be thinking the same about now. We're having sunny weather here in Southern Cal and its been cool and breezy. I hope your skies clear up soon. Gray skies can become a bit depressing, but I like them anyway.

I hope you have a wonderful evening!

    xoxo Cori

  3. Ooh! Come to sunny San Diego! We have sunny days in the 300's too. Even if we get a marine layer in the morning, it makes for a nice cover to keep our temps perfect. Mmmm. Love it.

As I love the great suits. Wouldn't you just love to own those?

  8. Your work is absolutely amazing!! It truly is a Gift from God!!
I love the swimsuits! Your own design? If so, start designing swimwear for sale!
And I think Lindsey is right, the West Coast is much nicer than the East Coast, they have OUTDOOR kitchens and living rooms, and doors wide open! We have screen porches and three-season rooms in the northeast, and down south is HUMID too!
But I think anywhere near a beach is a plus!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
I'll be visiting your work (GIFT!) often!

  9. I just found your blog and I love it! You are very talented. I love the bathtub painting with the little dog and the hydrangeas one. I'm going to come back and look around more this weekend.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog too.

  10. LOVE THEM! You should make prints for fabric and sell them. Your work would look lovely on a pillow!

  11. Thank you so much Eileen,Christine, and Rebecca!I do really believe my ability to paint and draw comes from above...and a little bit from Mom as well, she is a phenomenal artist!Fabric design could be a neat avenue or I've always dreamed of getting into book illustration, just not sure how. Maybe a book publisher will find me at some stage...one can always hope!:o)In the meantime I spend my days playing with paint and my 2 nuggets, Jedha & Taffy (their blog is http://www.aussiedogsupandover.blogspot.com)
    Now back to more packing!

  13. Thank you :o) For some reason the yellow one was the hardest to photograph...I really need a better camera, they look much brighter and richer in color in person :o)

  15. Hello Lara, I saw that you stopped by my blog, Loveleigh Treasures and added your name to my followers list. I am thrilled to have you! I love meeting new bloggers. I wasn't sure which of your blogs to come to, so I perused all three and landed here. Your artwork is amazing. I've always wished I knew how to paint. I can draw a bit, but that's all. Your Dogs are terrific by the way, they look like lots of fun! Have a terrific Monday and I hope to visit again soon!

  16. Thank you so much, and Katelen I do agree that much of my ability comes from above...I've always been able to draw, but didn't think I could paint..I had tried painting in high school with acrylics, but found them so difficult to work with, so I never picked up a brush again...that was until I discovered the work of Chris Stott, an incredible still life artist. I was amazed at how he could paint, not to mention how well he sold on ebay, so I picked up a brush about 3-4 years ago and have been painting ever since! :o)I am truly blessed to be able to follow my true passion in life!

  17. So glad to have been introduced to you via Paris Apartment. Best of luck with the ad. I really love your paintings. Give Janet Hill a run for her money! ;-)

  18. Thank you so much Lora, but heck I don't think I have anything on Janet Hill, she is an amazing artist for sure...I actually have quite a collection of work by other artists, and will have to try and snatch a painting of hers at some point! That is if I can even get my hands on one of hers!:o)
